On June 5th, World Environment Day, a spirit of environmental stewardship brought together members from Sustera, Grassroute, and the dedicated team from NAICO at the fertile grounds of Rewild, North Paravur, Kochi, Kerala, India. In a concerted effort to nurture our planet, we collectively planted 50 saplings in Rewild’s courtyard. This wonderful initiative was made possible through the generous funding of Naico ITS, a leading IT-enabled service provider serving clients worldwide.

Under the leadership of its COO, Mr. Nishad Azhivelikkakath, the NAICO team spearheaded the planting efforts, which commenced at 4:00 PM. Everyone present enthusiastically engaged in pit-making and planting, contributing to the creation of new life. Midway through the activity, we were delighted to be joined by some enthusiastic interns from Rewild, hailing from Rajagiri College, who lent their support to our cause. Despite it being a sunny day in the monsoon season, every individual involved found immense joy and satisfaction in the act of planting.
Understanding World Environment Day and its Significance
World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5th, is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. The day serves as a global platform for inspiring positive change, reminding us of the urgent need to address environmental challenges like climate change, deforestation, pollution, and biodiversity loss. Each year, World Environment Day focuses on a specific theme, encouraging individuals, communities, and governments to adopt sustainable practices and make conscious choices that benefit our planet. It highlights the importance of collective action in safeguarding our natural resources for present and future generations.
